Why did you choose your major?
As I mentioned in the previous post, I am currently studying sound engineering at the University of Chile, but that was not always my dream career.
In my childhood I dreamed of being a teacher, because I had
a good experience with my teachers and I wanted to become a person like them. Later
I discovered that I was good at chemistry and I became interested in a career
in chemistry and pharmacy, because it had a wide field of work, good salary and
many universities offered it, so I would not have to move from my home in the
south. But by chance, months before taking the university transition test, I
saw a video posted on Instagram talking about careers and among the careers
they talked about they mentioned "sound engineering", I did not know
that this degree existed and even less what it was about, so I investigated it
and I liked it a lot, but there was a dilemma, because it was only taught in
Santiago and it was very far from my house (between 8 to 9 hours by bus 🫠 ), my
parents supported me in whatever I decided, so I finally decided to move to
Santiago and fulfill my dreams.
And well, here I am now, I'm not going to lie, it's been
quite difficult to get used to being away from my family and learning to be
alone in this big city (although I brought my brother with me jejej 😋 ) well I
didn't know her (and for obvious reasons, on several occasions I got lost 😅 ), but
I have a good time at the university, the teachers are friendly and I notice
that they like to teach, I have also made very good friends at the university.
It's interesting how you discovered the major that you are studying! 🥳. Like you, I didn't know that career existed 🤣. So far this semester, what have you liked the most about the career you are studying?. See you! 😄
